AbstractNumerical simulations had been carried out using model AGC of the CPTEC/COLA in resolution T062L28, coupled to the SSiB surface model, in order to evaluate the impacts on the precipitation due to change of the semi-arid vegetation of Northeast Brazil. Thus, three experiments had been carried out: i) control (dry shrubland); ii) desertification (bare soil); iii) replacement with forest (tropical forest). The experiments had been constituted by ensemble of 5 members with 4 years of numerical integrations for each one. The results had shown that modifying the natural covering of dry shrubland for desert and conversion in forest lead to the rainfall reduction in a large extent of the Northeast Brazil. Additionally, precipitation anomalies had been verified in other regions. Resumo: Simulações numéricas, utilizando o modelo CGA do CPTEC/COLA na resolução T062L28, acoplado ao esquema de superfície SSiB, foram realizadas com o propósito de avaliar os impactos na precipitação devido à mudança da vegetação do semi-árido do Nordeste do Brasil. Para tanto, foram realizados três experimentos: i) controle (caatinga); ii) desertificação (solo nu); iii) conversão em floresta (floresta tropical). Os experimentos foram constituídos por conjuntos de 5 membros com integrações numéricas de 4 anos cada. Os resultados mostraram que a modificação da cobertura natural de caatinga para deserto e para conversão em floresta leva à redução na precipitação em grande parte do Nordeste do Brasil. Anomalias de precipitação em outras regiões também foram verificadas pelas simulações.
